A long day hike to Martinez Mountain in the Santa Rosas Moutains. The area Martinez is in is part of the San Bernardino National Forest. It was a long hike - 18 miles round-trip with 4200 feet total gain. The route was part trail, cross-country with bushwacking, and part use trail. It took us 11 hours including our breaks, but we think we lost at least an hour when we went off route and bushwacked part of our way up.
Map of our route to Martinez. I wouldn't suggest the up route, but the down route was well marked and fairly easy. The hike is about 18 miles round-trip with a total of 4200 feet elevation gain.
