A long day hike to Martinez Mountain in the Santa Rosas Moutains. The area Martinez is in is part of the San Bernardino National Forest. It was a long hike - 18 miles round-trip with 4200 feet total gain. The route was part trail, cross-country with bushwacking, and part use trail. It took us 11 hours including our breaks, but we think we lost at least an hour when we went off route and bushwacked part of our way up.
Me all scratched up with the Summit block of Martinez behind me. We did a lot of bushwacking on steep terrain to get to the summit, but once we were up there we saw the ducks and then the nice use trail that took us back down to the Cactus Springs Trail.
