A day hike to Jacumba Mountain (4512') from Mortero Palms Wash in Anza-Borrego State Park. The hike starts at about 2000 feet above sea leve and is about 2.5 miles each way; so a round-trip of 5 miles with 2500 to 2600 feet elevation gain. It took me 5.5 hours to do the hike.

KathyWing > I leave the gentle area and head for the steep slope that will bring me up to the ridge about 3/4 mile from the summit.
